The failure processes of heterogeneous repairable systems with minimal repair assumption can be modelled by nonhomogeneous Poisson processes. One approach to describe an unobserved heterogeneity between is multiply the intensity function a positive random variable (frailty term) gamma distribution. This assumes that relative frailty distribution among survivors independent age. Where are being continuously repaired and modified, may dependent on system’s paper investigates application inverse Gaussian (IG) model for modelling systems. IG model, which combines power law distribution, becomes increasingly homogeneous over time. We develop maximum likelihood method event prediction, investigate effect accuracy estimator mis-specification through simulation study. mean estimates scale shape parameters examined bias efficiency loss. find developed robust changes in input relatively large sample sizes. robustness selecting compared model. applied real data illustration showing improvement existing models.
